The Mississippi State University Faculty Brass Quintet is a chamber ensemble comprised of MSU brass faculty members and professional brass artists in the region. The ensemble performs standard brass quintet repertoire, new compositions, and transcriptions of jazz and popular music favorites in recital for audiences at the university as well as for the community and in schools across the region.
Committed to outreach and educational enrichment through the art of chamber music, the ensemble works closely with the brass students at MSU and at schools they visit to help students develop the skills to become sensitive chamber musicians themselves. Recent appearances include Jones County Community College, North East Mississippi Community College, Booneville High School, Pontotoc High School, Tupelo High School, West Jones High School, and Starkville High School.
The current members of the Mississippi State University Faculty Brass Quintet are MSU brass faculty members Anthony Kirkland, trumpet; Ben Bruflat, trumpet, Matthew Haislip, horn; Richard Human, trombone and Blake Ryall, tuba.
